Woman accused of pointing laser at SAPD helicopter sentenced to more than 3 years in prison, according to court documents

The documents allege that Sandra Roberson, 60, endangered the crew and people on the ground with this action. Roberson faces 37 months in prison.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio woman accused of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

According to court documents, 60-year-old Sandra Roberson used a laser to persistently strike an SAPD helicopter on November 3, 2023. The documents allege that this endangered the crew and people on the ground. The helicopter was forced to divert from investigating a shooting call due to the attack.

Roberson was arrested on January 30, 2024 and pleaded guilty on September 5.

She has been sentenced to 37 months in prison, a little over three years.
