Judson ISD offers apps where parents can track their student's bus location

The apps are called 'Bus Quest' and 'Bus Compass' and are both free to download on the district's website.

CONVERSE, Texas — Judson ISD welcomed their students with open arms for the first day of school Wednesday morning.

With that, many students hopped on the school bus for the first time. While scary for both the student and parents, Judson ISD offers a way for parents to track their kids while they're on the road.

There are two apps that are free to download for parents:

The first app is called 'Bus Quest', and this app sends notifications on changes to bus assignments, schedules and delays.

The second app is called 'Bus Compass', and this app sends notifications on the bus location to the student's bus stop.

The bus doesn't stop there; the district communicates with families through its bus barn command center. Dispatchers address concerns and solve problems in real time. They then send that information to the drivers.

The drivers and dispatchers have been training all summer for the first day of many. This year, drivers will conquer more than 90 different bus routes daily.

There will also be a new safety feature for attendance.

"Our students come in and they swipe in and that gives us a that we know they got on the bus," Director of Transportation Ken Johnson said.
