Earning her the name  of DJ Catwalk.

"It's an endless craft. I am ten years into it and I am still learning new things constantly," Myers said.

Her femininity even getting her gigs from time to time.

"I noticed that people request female DJs a lot," Myers said.

Realizing quickly, there weren't many to choose from.

"I could count them on both my hands," Myers said. "That's a real big problem. It's such a male-dominated field."

Myers teaming up with The AM Project to mash things up.

Targeting women and girls of all ages, in hopes of re-mastering the DJ scene in San Antonio.

Eight-year-old DJ Cupcake is one of those young girls who are training with The AM Project to master the turntables.

"I like how cool it was," aspiring DJ, Simone Newman said.

Her mother, Jody Newman, knew Simone was serious about learning after attending an all-ages dance party and becoming entranced with the DJ.

"For over a year she was asking me does she have DJ lessons," Simone's mom, Jody Newman said.

You can hear it in her set that's she's picked up the basics pretty quickly.

"Other than learning these buttons and all that other than that it was not hard," Simone Newman said.

"We have just been so pleased," Jody Newman said. "We didn't really know Simone was musically inclined. And we are realizing now that this could be a lifelong hobby for her and it could become a professional career for her."

"I'm very lucky because I'm the first girl DJ in my class," Simone Newman said.

Jody Newman is thankful for The AM Project's push to get more girls interested in digital music.

"Now little girls have opportunities that even when I was a child we didn't have. And many of the stereotypes have been broken down and it's an exciting time for sure," Jody Newman said.

"I think more women need to do it. At least to try and change that," Myers said.
