SAN ANTONIO -- Graduate students from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the Voelcker Biosciences Teacher Academy are working with more than 100 K-12 schools in the San Antonio area to create what is believed to be the largest periodic table in the world, according to UTHSCSA.
UTHSCSA said each classroom is working with supplies provided by San Antonio Science to illustrate one square from the periodic table on a tarp that is 12 feet by 15 feet in size. All 118 elements were combined at the grand unveiling event to make up the mammoth periodic table, which is reportedly more than 22,000 square feet in size.
The periodic table is also part of an event called Science Fiesta. UTHSCSA said the purpose of the activity is to foster excitement about science.
The big reveal took place at Northside Independent School District's Gustafson Stadium Wednesday evening.
