SAN ANTONIO -- A clinic in San Antonio is offering free testing for Alzheimer's, an irreversible brain disease.
As many as 5 million americans live with Alzheimer's according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Glywasky said anyone 50 years or older experiencing memory problems is encouraged to take the free test at Clinical Trials of Texas.
Neuropsychologist, Kate Glywasky, said the screening takes about 30 minutes. Glywasky said the test quizzes a person on their memory and motor skills.
"I would look at the type of errors the person is making. What we know about Alzheimer's is that it's a disease that's related to short term memory initially," said Glywasky.
Free screenings are available Tuesday through Friday by appointment only.
"My grandmother and grandfather passed away likely suspecting of Alzheimer's. It affects so many people and it is near and dear to my heart. If somebody has always had problems with attention, we don't expect it to improve throughout your life," said Glywasky.
Clinical Trials of Texas said no insurance is required. The clinic is located at 7940 Floyd Curl Drive, Suite 700, San Antonio, TX 78229 and the number is (210) 949-0122
