Clearing up the confusion: Leaders explain duplicate coronavirus cases and high death toll from state

"Some of the corrections we've been making account to roughly 1% of the data," Mayor Nirenberg said. "Trends remain the same. We have an extreme number of cases."

SAN ANTONIO — There's confusion in the community over the number of positive coronavirus cases in Bexar County, as well as the death toll.

Chief of Epidemiology Dr. Anita Kurian said Metro Health explained that Metro Health is moving over to a more advanced case management system. As they transfer cases, they've been double-checking them manually. They found 619 duplicate cases.
