SAN ANTONIO — Wednesday is National Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Day.

Millions of people have been diagnosed with this genetic disease, which means cysts, some as big as footballs, grows in the kidney. This often leads to organ failure.

That includes Josiah, who was born with a second type of the disease, known as ARPKD, or Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease.

At 6 years old, Josiah got a kidney and liver transplant that saved his life.

His parents say the PKD community was a huge support, and now the family will be participating in the foundation's yearly walk.

KENS 5 has also partnered with the PKD Foundation as part of our KENS CARES effort. Sarah Forgany will be MCing the San Antonio Walk for PKD with Vinnie Vinzetta.

The walk is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 at O.P. Schnabel Park located at 9606 Bandera Rd. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the walk starts at 7 a.m.
