SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Independent School District is 'hyper monitoring' a special education teacher at one of its elementary schools after multiple parents complained about how the teacher was managing the behavior of special needs students.
The teacher, assigned to SAISD's Robert B. Green Elementary School, was allowed to remain in the classroom during the weeks-long investigation launched early last month, a district spokeswoman confirmed Monday.
The spokeswoman said SAISD's investigation cleared the teacher of serious wrongdoing earlier this month, but officials determined she was in need of additional resources and support in the classroom.
"The concerns were more really about how this teacher was managing some student behavior," said SAISD spokeswoman Leslie Price.
"From time to time it can be a challenging environment."
Price declined to discuss specific allegations lodged against the teacher or whether the students were removed from the classroom at any point.
Price said 'hyper monitoring' includes classroom reinforcement and advice on how handle difficult situations.
She added that if the investigation found evidence of abuse, the teacher would no longer be in the class room.
