Call KENS | Woman is shocked company dragged feet on replacement battery

Ordering online is easy, until there's a problem. When a woman didn't think a company was going to refund her money, she called KENS for help.

SAN ANTONIO — As we get older it gets harder and harder to get around. Mobility scooters allowed some people to maintain their independence. But when that battery goes dead, you find yourself being dependant on someone else for the most simple errands.

"I can't even go to the grocery store to get food because I can't carry walk that far or carry them back," says Venita Johnson. The battery on her Pride mobility scooter went dead about a month ago. While online one day, Johnson says an ad popped up from Wholesale Home, so she went to their website and found what she thought was a battery for her scooter.

When it arrived a few days later, Johnson quickly discovered it was not the correct battery. She called the company and was told, "someone would call me back." Over the next month, according to Johnson no one ever called her back or sent her any information, or a return label so she could get the proper battery.

Johnson says she called so often, service representatives would recognize her and call her by name... but still no call back. So she found a number for Wholesale Homes corporate office and was told the same thing...someone will call you back. She says they didn't. That's when Johnson called KENS.

We called Wholesale Homes and the lady who answered the phone took my name and phone number and said she would pass the message on and someone would call me back. I never spoke with anyone from Wholesale Homes and no one ever left a voicemail, but less than a week later Johnson received an email with a return label for the battery and UPS picked it up at her apartment.

In the meantime, Johnson ordered and received a new battery from a different company. It came in the day after we spoke with her. She charged the battery and is mobile once again!
