SAN ANTONIO — Leticia Graciano's Chevy Trax was towed from her apartment complex back in March. She said it shouldn't have been towed in the first place but it was also damaged in the process.
When she got the car back, Graciano found the transmission and front differential assembly had been damaged and it would cost more than $8,000 to repair the vehicle.
She reported the tow company to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and had the vehicle moved to Star Collision Repair near Bandera Road.
The car shop was able to work on the transmission right away but the owner told KENS 5 they couldn't find a new differential assembly anywhere. Her Chevy Trax was stuck for the next four months.
"Oh my gosh I'm so upset! I'm paying for my car and I'm not even driving it. It's been parked for more time at the car shop than me driving it," Graciano said.
Graciano knew the car shop was doing everything they could but she needed more help to get back on the road. Finally, she called KENS 5.
KENS 5 reached out to the Chevrolet corporate office and asked if they could help the car shop locate the part.
When KENS 5 followed up three weeks later, a Chevy spokesperson confirmed that Star Collision Repair now had all the necessary parts and the company had also reached out to Graciano about the issue. The car shop completed the repair a few days later.
"They were going to get the part from Ancira," Graciano said. "Y'all got involved and the miracle happened and I got my car back!"
Chevy didn't have an official statement to share after the car was fixed but said via email they were happy to assist a local Chevy customer.
Graciano said she's thankful Chevy got involved and she's glad she called KENS 5.
"I got my vehicle back. I'm rolling again!," Graciano said.
