'It's been five years': $100k reward offered for information on the shooting death of 25-year-old

Oscar 'Alan' Thompson died from his injuries seven days after the shooting.

SAN ANTONIO — Thursday marked five years since a San Antonio man was gunned down on the city's west side. Now, Crime Stoppers is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Oscar 'Alan' Thompson, 25, was driving a friend home when he was shot in the head. It happened on November 9, 2018, near Stonegate Drive and Wake Forrest Drive. Alan lost control of his truck and crashed into a utility pole. Investigators say he was involved in a fight at a club earlier that evening. Police are looking for a maroon Ford Expedition in connection to the case that was last seen leaving Sugar's nightclub.

Thompson died from his injuries seven days later.

"Grief is something that you bear every day," said Teresa Thompson, Alan's mother. "He had such a great smile and brought joy and energy to every room he came in."

Teresa can't believe her son's killer has been walking free all these years.

"My son really went on to cold case and never got out of cold case," she said.

Alan would have turned 31 in January, Teresa said.

"I think he would have owned a home by now because he was saving up for that," she teared up. "Maybe I would have a grandchild on the way. Some of his friends are having kids right now."

A new detective has been assigned to the case, according to Teresa. With a large reward now offered for information, she is holding onto hope.

"I hope someone takes that money and makes our family complete," she said. "It's been five years. Nothing is going to bring our son back, but it would bring closure for us. We would feel like we've done what we could for Alan."
