Paramount+ original series '1923' set to film in San Antonio this fall

City officials says production was enticed to choose the Alamo City due to its proximity, access to abundant historic locations and film-friendly services.

SAN ANTONIO — Here's some exciting news for San Antonio fans of the Golden Globe-nominated Paramount+ original series “1923": Production of season two of the "Yellowstone" prequel, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, is coming to the Alamo City this fall.

According to a press release from the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture, its film division and other local entities are working with affiliated production personnel to facilitate filming on the show’s second season.

A majority of the upcoming season’s filming will take place across Texas, where Austin will be used as a base. The city says production was enticed to choose San Antonio due to its proximity, access to abundant historic locations and film-friendly city services.

“The fact that this project has selected San Antonio as a filming destination speaks highly of all that our vibrant and thriving city has to offer television and film projects,” said Krystal Jones, executive director of Department of Arts & Culture. “San Antonio provides productions with so many different looks and eras, lending itself well for any story to be told.”
