For almost 25 years, police detectives worked to solve the murder of a 37-year-old San Antonio woman. Now, the case is finally being brought to justice.
Investigators say they were able to connect the suspect to the murder after they got a DNA match from the crime scene.
Now 49-year-old Daniel Flores Garcia has been charged for the murder of 37-year-old Marilyn McDonald. McDonald was a single mother who had worked as a real-estate agent.
Police say on the morning of June 25,1986, McDonald's body was discovered inside a home in the 2100 block of West Summit.
Investigators say she had been sexually assaulted and stabbed.
At the time of the murder, Garcia was doing some flooring work for McDonald's home.
Until now, he was serving time at the Dominguez State Jail for illegal drugs. On Friday, he was released, butwas putbehind bars once again at the Bexar County Jail.
After more than two decades,McDonald's family says they finally have some type of closure.
