For almost 30 years no one knew what had happened to a missing Edison High School teen. But, then DNA evidence helped link the 18-year-old to a Comal County Jane Doe.
On Thursday, June 4, 1981, an unidentified body of a teenage female was found along IH 35 in Comal County.
The victim was determined to have died from gunshot wounds. In 2009, through DNA technology, the victim was identified as 18-year-old Carol Joyce Deleon.
Deleon lived in the West Avenue area of San Antonio and had graduated from Thomas Edison High School on May 28, 1981, just days prior to her death.
Her killer has not been charged, and the victim's family is now hoping someone will step forward and bring them closure.
The Texas Rangers are handling the case, and are asking the public's help in solving this cold case murder.
