SAN ANTONIO — AAA Texas says it will be offering a free one-way service to take you home from New Year’s celebrations if you plan to be drinking when the calendar flips to 2019.
The company’s Tipsy Tow service will be available across the state from 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 6 a.m. the following morning. AAA officials say it should be seen as a last-resort option; San Antonians who have alcohol should plan ahead and have a designated driver or otherwise plan to take a cab or rideshare service home.
Tipsy Tow offers free trips home so long as they’re no further than 10 miles; for longer trips, a surcharge will have to be paid. To use the service on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s morning, call 1-800-222-4357 or 1-800-AAA-HELP.
The service will only take drivers home, not to other spots around town.
