Abandoned west-side home heavily damaged by fire, officials say

The home is right next to Lanier High School.

SAN ANTONIO — A fire spread through a west-side home authorities believe is abandoned, heavily damaging the attic and roof.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the 300 block of Fite Alley, which is not far from South Brazos Street and Lanier High School, for reports of a fire around 11 p.m.

We're told the fire started at the electrical drop going into the house. That fire spread quickly across the attic.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly. Damage to the home is estimated at around $50,000.

Fire crews aren't sure yet whether or not the house is occupied.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.
