Officials say owner told them there was ammo inside home on fire

Luckily it didn't cause firefighters any issues and they knocked it down quickly.

SAN ANTONIO — Officials say the homeowner told them there was ammunition inside a home that was on fire early Thursday morning.

San Antonio Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on the 200 blocks of Brooks Street just east of downtown around 7:49 a.m.

There were flames and heavy smoke showing from the front of the single story home when first responders arrived.

They were able to knock it quickly. The homeowner did tell them that he had ammunition inside his home, but it did not cause them any problems.

One person was checked out by EMS for possible smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported.

No word on the amount of damage caused by the fire or what may have caused it to ignite.

This is a developing story.
