SAN ANTONIO — Multiple San Antonio fire crews responded to a northeast-side apartment fire Tuesday evening, officials said.
Firefighters were called to a structure fire on the 12900 block of Park Crossing Drive around 5 p.m.
Fire officials said 16 engines responded to the fire but crews were able to contain the flames in about 20 minutes.
According to officials, the recent rain helped contain the blaze.
Fire officials said there was a complete evacuation of one apartment building with 24 units. 8 of these units were heavily damaged, 4 units sustained moderate damage and 12 units were undamaged.
Fire investigators believe the fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor which caused the roof to collapse.
The apartment complex is working with displaced residents and the Red Cross is on the way to offer resources and support.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
