SAN ANTONIO — A late-night shootout in a west-side neighborhood ended with a man shot dead, SAPD said.
Now San Antonio police are trying to figure if one of those neighbors will be facing any charges.
It happened around 11 p.m. Saturday off the 200 block of Balboa Avenue near Castroville road.
Investigators say two male neighbors -- one 70 years old, the other 33 -- were arguing about barking dogs roaming the neighborhood when both neighbors pulled out guns and starting shooting at each other. The younger man was killed in the exchange of gunfire, according to authorities, while the other was taken to a local hospital after he was shot in the head.
The altercation left neighbors grateful for their lives.
"Thank God nothing happened to our house, to our vehicles," one person who lives nearby said. "Because down here that vehicle got hit with a stray bullet, and then in front of that one another vehicle got hit. That other vehicle actually the tire got blown out because of it.”
Police haven't yet confirmed if the surviving neighbor will be facing any charges.
