Art display near downtown encouraging kids to dream big

The giant crayons have powerful words on them like unity, hope, grace, and shine.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio artist is encouraging kids to dream big.

Nicholas Monroe is helping brighten up the city. And what better way than with giant crayons!

Each of the crayons have powerful words on them like unity, hope, grace, and shine.

"It just reminds you of being a child right," said the artist. "Everybody has that nostalgic feel of crayons. From 4-years-old to you know 100. It takes you back. They're so dang big. Its Willy Wonka-ish. I'm trying to lean on the inspiration. Lean on the imagination."

This public art is right off Austin Street and Brooklyn Avenue, just east of downtown.

This is part of the soon-to-be-launched dream district in San Antonio where more murals and vibrancy will decorate this area.

It could be the picture perfect spot for a back to school photo session.
