AT&T says it has resolved nationwide issue affecting calls

Calls from customers between carriers were affected, but not 911 calls, the Dallas-based company said.

DALLAS — AT&T, the Dallas-based telecommunications company, says it has resolved a nationwide issue that was affecting its customers on Tuesday.

The company said the issue was affecting the ability of customers to complete calls between carriers. However, 911 calls were not impacted, the company added.

"The interoperability issue between carriers has been resolved," AT&T said in a statement. "We collaborated with the other carrier to find a solution and appreciate our customers patience during this period."

This is déjà vu for some customers: In February, AT&T suffered a massive nationwide outage to its U.S. cellphone network because of a technical error, leaving thousands of people without any service for about 12 hours.

Customers have experienced several major outages from cell carriers and social media sites this year. Just one week ago, Verizon customers experienced an hours-long outage, with many saying their phones registered no service and they were unable to make calls or send messages.

In March, a massive Meta outage affected Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp users.
