SAN ANTONIO — A new baby monkey made its debut into the world at the San Antonio Zoo!
The baby Francois Langur was born Monday night to mother Ravalina and father Chay. Their species is currently listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Baby langurs are known to cling tightly to their mother's belly for the first few weeks of life before gradually becoming more independent as they grow. They are born with bright orange fur, which helps the adults keep track of their babies in dense forest canopy. Their fur will gradually change to the adult black and white coloring.
The new baby and family are at the Langur habitat located near the Asian Forest exhibit. A few more pictures of the new baby are below.
