BCSO deputies locate chop shop with at least 50 confirmed stolen vehicles on property

The stolen vehicles were mostly high-end trucks and have an estimated value of between $2M and $2.5 dollars.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Deputies with Bexar County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on the far south side and discovered an active chop shop with at least 50 stolen vehicles.

This happened just before noon on Wednesday in the 3100 block of Woodfin Drive.

"It's one of the biggest ones I've ever seen in my time as sheriff," Said Sheriff Javier Salazar.

Several weeks ago there was a fire at the location and firefighters alerted the sheriff about some 8-liners spotted at the location. BCSO began to investigate for possible criminal activity at the location and ran some license plates of vehicles that were spotted on the property.

"Most of the vehicles found at the location were high-end pick up trucks," said Sheriff Salazar. "Dollar figure, we're looking at between $2 million and $2.5 million dollars in vehicles. Most of the vehicle were stolen out of the city of San Antonio, but some were stolen out of Austin."

The vehicles have all been chopped up and more than likely sold for parts.

The theft operation took place in multiple counties all across Texas. Some of the engines from the stolen vehicles have been found in other counties in Texas.

Nobody has been arrested yet, but BCSO does have the identity of the property owner and the sheriff says it's one that is recognized from other operations.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
