Two girls and an adult woman are dead and detectives are looking for answers about what went wrong in the northwest Bexar County gated community of Anaqua Springs Ranch.
The neighborhood of million-dollar homes is off Toutant Beauregard Road near Leon Springs.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said the call for help came around 9 am Thursday from a man who lives on Anaqua Springs Road.
He told the dispatcher he returned home to a devastating scene.
"He came home this morning to find the other three residents deceased."
The sheriff says all three had gunshot wounds. Salazar said the two girls appear to be homicide victims. With regard to a woman in her 30s, Salazar said “It's just too early to tell on the third person if that is a murder or a suicide. We'll let the medical examiner take a look at it."
Salazar said even though the homes are on acreage-sized lots and it is possible that nobody heard the gunfire, investigators are looking for help.
Salazar said, "But it's also possible that somebody may have heard or seen something that maybe at the time didn't seem like anything of consequence, but in the great scheme of things, it could be a puzzle piece."
Salazar said crime scene investigators are being especially meticulous, given the magnitude of the loss of life.
The Medical Examiner has not released the names of the victims.
Salazar said if anyone in the area has surveillance video that might be helpful to the investigation, he would like for them to contact his office at 210-335-6000.
