SAN ANTONIO — Thousands of dollars worth of stolen property was recovered in south Bexar County this week.
From trailers to generators, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office is now looking for the owners.
A man who was found at the lot on Pleasanton Road was arrested on unrelated theft warrants. But Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar is asking for more evidence to make an arrest in this case.
“It’s frustrating for sure," Salazar said. "What we’re going to be doing is putting these videos out, these pictures out. In hopes somebody will come forward and say ‘that’s my travel trailer, here’s a video of it being stolen.’”
Two generators, a travel trailer, two dump trailers and a backhoe were amongst the stolen property found on a south Bexar County lot – worth about $200,000.
“All of which have obscured serial numbers," added Salazar.
The sheriff’s office received a call from a company whose generator was stolen over the weekend. That equipment had a GPS tracker on it.
“That gentleman was able to track the trailer to the property occupied by this suspect here,” Salazar said.
Rickie Lee Gleason was arrested on two theft warrants. One out of Atascosa County, the other out of Bexar County. He has since bonded out of jail.
The sheriff is trying to determine his connection to the stolen property.
“From my understanding, mere possession of stolen property is not enough at this point to prove that he was the one that stole them,” he said.
Salazar says if a victim has a video of someone stealing their property, then that would be considered evidence to carry out an arrest.
