BCSO: Landscapers find body in wooded area behind far south-side distribution warehouse

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, appears to have been homeless. Investigators do not suspect foul play.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is investigating after a body was found behind a distribution warehouse on the city’s far south-side Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said landscapers cutting the grass at the location on 11650 FM 1937 told deputies they smelled a foul odor and searched the area behind the warehouse where they discovered what appeared to be human remains.

Salazar said the body is that of a male believed to be in his 50s or 60s who appears to have been homeless and camping out in the wooded area. The man was also wearing a hospital wristband indicating he may have recently been discharged from a local hospital.

The man’s cause of death is unknown at this time, according to Salazar, but investigators do not suspect foul play.
