BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) has launched a new system for residents to be in the know about public safety events, initiatives and notices happening in the community with a simple text.
The agency says residents can text "BCSOALERTS" to 888-777 to subscribe and receive notifications about traffic accidents, road closures that may impact their commute, active scene alerts and missing persons.
For less urgent notices such community events, scamming trends, major crime updates and career opportunities, residents can text "BCSONEWS" to 888-777. If you'd like to subscribe to both forms of text communications, BCSO is asking that you text the keywords in separate messages.
"Your safety and awareness matter to us, and we're dedicated to keeping you informed," BCSO said in a release. "Join us in this exciting initiative and be the first to receive timely updates."
