SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County Commissioners are moving forward with a plan to eliminate more than two dozen jobs and some constables are concerned it could impact your safety.

SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County Commissioners are moving forward with a plan to eliminate more than two dozen jobs and some constables are concerned it could impact your safety.

Starting April 1, Precincts Three, Four and Two will lose 15 deputy constable positions.

The county is also cutting nine clerk positions in Justice of the Peace offices.

Commissioners approved the plan late last year but held off to evaluate the workload in each precinct.

Precinct Two and Three saw significant population drops, while Precinct Four saw a dramatic increase.

County officials said they had hoped to eliminate vacant positions instead of those held by employees but the only place it appears to be happening is precinct two.
