SAN ANTONIO — Officials believe that slick conditions on the roadway may have caused a big rig to lose traction and break through a guard rail injuring the driver Tuesday morning,

It happened around 6:15 a.m. in the 9800 block of I-35 South near Loop 410 on the southwest side of town.

Police say an 18-wheeler truck was traveling south on I-35 when the 25-year-old driver likely lost traction due to the wet road conditions. The tractor broke through the metal guard rail and fell onto the north bound exit lanes, while the trailer remained on the bridge above.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken by EMS to a local hospital.

The north bound exit remains closed while police investigate and work to clear the accident scene.

Traffic is being diverted off of the highway.

This is a developing story.
