Blanco Road accident splits car in two, kills occupant

Police say a car sped through a red light, careening into another vehicle, splitting it in two, and killing a woman. Witnesses say the driver tried to move a passenger into his seat, claiming he wasn't in the car at the time of the crash.

SAN ANTONIO -- A woman is dead after being involved in a 3-vehicle accident overnight.

Police say at around 2 a.m. Sunday acar heading south in the 18200 block of Blanco Road sped through a red light and careened into another vehicle on the 1604 access Road.

The impact was so great that it ripped the second vehicle in half. One half of the vehicle landed about 100 feet away from the rest of the car. The female driver of that dissected vehicle was ejected from her car and died at the scene.

An Acura, driven by 33 year-old Adrian Brown,then hit the first vehicle.

Witnesses told police the driver of the speeding car, 27-year-old Robert Stinziano, appeared to be unconscious at first, but then they sayStinziano woke and tried to move his passenger, Kaylie Marie McCaskill,into the driver's seat. They say the driver claimed he was not an occupant in the car at all.

According to the police reportStinziano seemed to be acting under the influence of alcohol.Policesay they also found narcotics in the speeding car.

McCaskill was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Brown did not suffer any injuries.

Stinziano was subjected to a blood draw and was later booked.He faces a number of charges including intoxication manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.Stinziano's bond has been set at $79,000.

The deceased woman's name has not yet beenreleased.
