Austin mother Brenna Swindell found safe in Oregon | Authorities working on extraditing ex-boyfriend

The 29-year-old daughter of former MLB pitcher Greg Swindell was located in Klamath Falls, Oregon, after she was reported missing on Aug. 22 near Austin.

SPICEWOOD, Texas — The daughter of a former Texas Longhorn was found safe Tuesday after she was recently reported missing.

According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO), Brenna Swindell is "alive and well" after she was located with her ex-boyfriend, Morgan Guidry, on Aug. 27.

Officials said Swindell was found in the early morning hours of Klamath Falls, Oregon, after police noticed the vehicle the pair was driving was stolen vehicle through automatic license plate readers.

Klamath Falls Sgt. Maury Smith said officers pulled the car over for a high-risk stop, which is when they found warrants in Guidry's name. He was then taken into custody.

Swindell did not have any injuries, according to officials.

On Tuesday morning, her father, former Houston Astros pitcher Greg Swindell, shared an update on social media, stating, "She has been found. That’s all we have for now. Thank you to everyone. And I mean everyone who helped in the process."

TCSO Sheriff Sally Hernandez also commented on the incident saying, "This is the news we were desperately hoping and praying for. I'm so grateful to everyone who contributed their efforts to finding her, across the Travis County area and outside the state of Texas."

Klamath Falls police say Brenna Swindell was able to call her parents and make arrangements to return to Texas. Meanwhile, TCSO said it is working on extraditing Guidry, but wouldn't release any details for security reasons.

When did Swindell go missing?

Brenna Swindell, 29, was first reported missing on Aug. 22, when she was seen with Guidry at Poodie's Hilltop Roadhouse in Spicewood, Texas, roughly 25 miles from Austin.

On Aug. 25, Brenna Swindell's father reported her missing to the Austin Police Department (APD), prompting her name to be added to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons website.

The APD Missing Persons and Tactical Intelligence Units started collecting information, but TCSO soon took over.

Officials said Brenna Swindell and Guidry were possibly driving through Denver or Colorado Springs, Colorado in a white 2022 Kia Carnival.

Brenna Swindell's family members also shared concerns about her well-being on their social media pages as the investigation continued.

Additional background

Leading up to her disappearance, a family disturbance call was made last month regarding Brenna Swindell and Guidry.

During this time, Brenna Swindell was in contact with a family violence detective who investigated further. Then on Aug. 20, Brenna Swindell decided to press charges against her ex.

The detective then filed a warrant for Assault/Family Violence/House Member Impeding Breath/Circulation, which is a third-degree felony.

Just four days later, Brenna Swindell's parents asked for a welfare check on their daughter, but she was not seen at her apartment and her car could not be found.

KVUE spoke to Guidry's father Monday night, who said he didn't believe it was a distressing situation and that he "loves and misses" his son. He also shared notes his son left behind that read, "I went back to spend one last night with her," and "Off to travel the world ... See you on the other side."
