SAN ANTONIO — An unoccupied building just north of downtown sustained heavy damage from an early morning fire, SAFD says.
San Antonio firefighters responded to the 200 block of East Evergreen Street around 2 a.m. on Saturday for reports of a commercial building on fire with flames and smoke showing.
When crews arrived at the single-story building, smoke and flames were showing. They quickly gained access and were able to extinguish the flames in the back of the building.
No one was inside the building, officials say. It's unclear how the fire started.
Arson investigators were called to the scene to conduct their investigation. No injuries were reported.
Officials say the building sustained heavy damage to the interior.
This is a developing story.
