SAN ANTONIO — Smoothies are flowing again on this Small Business Saturday, at The Nekter Juice Bar at 1304 Borgfeld Drive.
Earlier this week the store had to close, after someone broke into the business using a crowbar.
"So Tuesday night about 2:30 in the morning, we had a break in and they broke the glass," owner Lorraine Nielsen says.
The thief managed to avoid being detected by motion detectors, but crawling through the store. He first looked for a safe behind the register, but then made it to the back where he found it.
"Somehow they broke into the safe and they took all of our money that was in the safe, our deposit and unfortunately our employees tips," Nielsen says.
Nielsen says the burglary is disappointing for a small family owned business just trying to make it. She also says they broke into another family owned business in the complex, but they didn't get anything.
"I was pretty devastated because you work so hard and you try so hard, to put something out there. I really believe in our product and just teach people about how good it is and you want people to know. Then for someone to try to come in and try and take that from you for no reason, it's pretty devastating," Nielsen says.
Nielsen says since the burglary customers have rallied around them to support their business.
"It saddens our hearts very much, but you know we'll persevere, we'll go on," Nielsen says.
Nielsen says she hope people coming out to support her, will become life long customers.
