Celebration of life held for Savanah Soto and Mathew Guerra's unborn baby

Baby Fabian would have been six months old this month if his mother Savanah Soto, and father Mathew Guerra would not have been shot and killed in December.

SAN ANTONIO — A celebration of life was held at Kenwood Park for Savanah Soto and Mathew Guerra's unborn baby today.

Baby Fabian would have been six months old. Family and friends already had gifts, outfits and celebrations in place months ago in preparation for Fabian's birth.

His life was ripped away when his mother Savannah Soto, and father Mathew Guerra, were found shot and killed at a northwest-side apartment complex parking lot in December.

“We were robbed…I know we held him one time… Everyone was expecting him… Everyone was excited for him to be here," Mathew Guerra's father, Gabriel Guerra said.

Christopher Preciado, 19, is charged with capital murder after allegedly killing Soto, baby Fabian and Matthew Guerra. His indictment also includes charges of abuse of a corpse and altering, destroying or concealing a corpse.

Ramon Preciado is accused of helping his son, Christopher Preciado, hide the bodies of the couple.

A CLEAR Alert for Soto, 18, was initially issued on Christmas, two days after she never showed up for a scheduled appointment to be induced. On Dec. 26, police said 22-year-old Guerra was also considered a missing person. Hours later, their bodies would be found and a search for the suspects would spark.

Christopher and his father, Ramon, were taken into custody Jan. 3. The murder suspect's stepmother, Myrta Romanos, was arrested a week later. She's accused of helping the pair to get rid of evidence.

Ramon faces charges of abuse of a corpse and altering, concealing or destroying a human corpse, with Myrta facing the same charges in addition to one charge of tampering with evidence.

Ramon was originally booked on bonds totaling $600,000, but a motion to reduce those bonds was approved in February for one charge of altering/concealing a human corpse, lowering his total bonds to $450,000.

On Monday, a judge denied a motion to reduce the bond for the count of abuse of a corpse.

“I figured at least Fabian could have been spared…. It’s unforgivable," Guerra said.
