Stolen Cheesy Jane's food truck found in 'undrivable' condition

Tuesday morning, the owner contacted police when they noticed it had been stolen from its usual parking spot outside the restaurant in the 4200 block of Broadway.

SAN ANTONIO — Police found the popular food truck, Cheesy Jane's hours after it was reported stolen, but the damage was done. The restaurant owner, Tirso Sigg was devastated to find his truck with all the parts stripped out of it.

“It’s a punch in the gut for sure," Sigg said. "One third of my sales is with my food truck.”

Most of us in San Antonio have seen the brightly-colored Cheesy Jane's food truck offering food at large events around town. Tuesday morning, the owner contacted police when he noticed it had been stolen from its usual parking spot outside the restaurant in the 4200 block of Broadway.

Three hours later the truck was found on the southside in the Mission Espada area at an apartment complex – 18 minutes away from the restaurant. The truck was found wrecked and stripped of its equipment. Windows, vent hood, fridges, fryers tables and a/c units were all gone. Police say they do not know exactly when the food truck was stolen.

“My kids are in college, everything has to be around my business and how I make my money," Sigg said. "To be honest with you, all these things make me more creative and make me think faster. Yeah, I have this feeling, but I need to move forward.”

Sigg says he’ll have to rely on catering along with sales from his brick and mortar. What he needs most is the community's support.

“We’re here! We have great burgers, please please support everybody locally.”

Sigg is asking the community to rally behind the restaurant and come enjoy the food they offer at Cheesy Jane’s.

No one has been arrested, according to a police report.

If you know anything about this crime, you are asked to call police.
