Grove Police department, which previously serviced China Grove, was disbanded, according to a Facebook post.
There was not a reasoning behind the decision to disband the department, according to the post. The Bexar County Sheriff's Department confirmed it will be providing backup in the area.
The post can be read in its entirety here:
It is with a deeply sadden heart that We inform the community of China Grove that the City of China City Council has decided to disband (do away with) the Grove Police Department. On behalf of Chief of Police Larry Davis and Officer Damian Balderas we would like say it has been a pleasure serving the community of China Grove. We have done all we can to keep our Department in operations but the council has spoken. We do not know the reasoning behind the disbandment but knew it would one day happen. We would to thank Former Mayor Dennis Dunk and Former City Administrator Susan Conaway for allowing us the opportunity to serve the Citizen of China Grove. The city will never be the same without you two. May the Lord bless you all.
