SAN ANTONIO — Authorities in Bexar County say a woman's body found at the Salado Creek Greenway is that of a missing woman last seen Sunday.
A CLEAR Alert was issued early Monday morning for Stacey Dramiga, 63, as authorities searched the area where she was last seen. BCSO says she was planning to go for a walk on the trails around 10 a.m. Sunday at Covington Park, which was where her car was found.
Her husband contacted authorities Sunday night when she had not returned home, BCSO said. Investigators attempted to ping her phone, but the area was too broad. A family iPad was used to further narrow the ping and her body was found a short time later in a wooded area off the main trail.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said they couldn't immediately confirm the body was Dramiga, before adding the description matches what Dramiga was known to be wearing. Salazar said it appears that foul play was involved and it is being investigated as a murder. The county medical examiner confirmed Tuesday evening it was Dramiga.
Sheriff Salazar said the incident serves as a warning to always be vigilant of your surroundings.
"The greenway trails are absolutely safe, right? But, no matter where you are whether it's a park, a rural area or in the middle of the city. You've got to be aware of your surroundings at all times. You've got to make sure you are notifying somebody of we're you're going to be," Sheriff Salazar said.
Tuesday, the investigation continued along the greenway with BCSO's mounted patrol unit. Video shows deputies on horses scouring the area.
BCSO is asking that anyone who may have come in contact with her any time on Sunday to please contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210) 335-6000.
