KENS 5 would like to wish a big congratulations to our very own Karen Grace. Karen was a candidate for Woman of the Year 2015 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a campaign that funds research to find a cure for blood cancer.

After ten weeks of raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Karen has earned the opportunity to name a research grant.

Karen started raising money last October and exceeded $50,000 in ten weeks. She has decided to name her grant after her 7 year-old hero, Aida Hope Cordeau, a local girl undergoing treatments for blood cancer. It was when Karen met Aida through volunteering that she was inspired to raise money to help children with her condition.

Aida was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at only 5 years old. Aida has amazingly rebounded from two and half years of bone marrow aspirations and chemo treatments. But the battle to find a cure for her blood cancer continues.
