Construction worker dies in what Schertz Police say was 'unfortunate accident'

The 39-year-old man worked for Yantis Construction, a San Antonio-based company.

SCHERTZ, Texas — A construction worker died on a job site in Schertz in what police say was an "unfortuante accident."

Schertz Police say the victim was at a site on the 17000 block of Tejas Way, not far from I-35, when he was killed around 4:24 p.m. last Tuesday.

The victim was identified as 39-year-old Jose Angel Gonzalez from Venezuela. Officials say Gonzalez was a worker for Yantis Construction, a San Antonio-based company.

Police say the company is cooperating with their investigation. According to officials, the man was working at the construction site when he died.

While police did not say what exactly happened to him, they are calling this an ‘unfortunate accident’.

For now, the incident is being investigated by Schertz Police and OSHA.

This is a developing story.
