SAN ANTONIO — CPS Energy revealed their winter readiness plan Thursday morning, including how the utility crews will respond if the power goes out.

The power company assures their customers that they are ready for the winter.

They have done the necessary work to ensure a reliable system that in the event it gets cold across the ERCOT market, and there is some disruption of service, they are ready and the systems have all been tested.

“We have done our jobs, and we are ready to go this winter,” said Rudy D. Garza, CEO CPS Energy.

Weather experts at the power company say they will be keeping a close eye on the weather.

“As we head into the latter half of January and getting into February, that’s when we see the potential for cold snaps that could be moving in our direction,” said Brian Alonzo, Chief Meteorologist for CPS Energy.

Officials say they have a reserve margin of over 20% and are prepared to meet the need of their customers.

CPS Energy will continue to communicate the energy levels to their customers throughout the winter, so you will be informed when conservation may be needed.
