SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters are battling an apartment fire on the northwest side of San Antonio that began Monday morning.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the 5300 block of Northwest Loop 410 near Evers Road around 7:07 a.m. for reports of a fire.

The first company on the scene reported seeing heavy smoke and fire coming from a first floor apartment. Firefighters began fighting the fire. The next three units that arrived initiated a primary search of the units for anyone who needed assistance in evacuating.

Officials say that the residents had evacuated on their own from the units impacted by the blaze.

A dog was removed by fire crews from a second floor apartment. It did not have any injuries.

Officials say that the fire started on the exterior of the building. They added that most of the damage is on the balcony area.

Fire officials said residents that live in the two units impacted are going to be relocated due to the damages the building suffered.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. No monetary amount for the damages was provided.

This is a developing story.
