SAN ANTONIO — Three homes were significantly damaged due to a fire that crews had a difficult time extinguishing because of the close proximity of the houses, San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood said.
Crews responded to the homes around 9:40 a.m. on South Minter on the city's west side. At one point, more than 30 units were dispatched to assist.
Chief Hood said it became a two-alarm fire, and eight people total have been displaced. Animal Care Services was also called as a few pets ran from the homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but no injuries were reported.
Chief Hood said if this fire would have taken place on Thursday, or in the earlier morning hours on Friday, the outcome could have "burned this whole block down" as the winds were extremely strong; a Red Flag warning was in effect.
