Crime Stoppers search for suspect responsible for fatal hit-and-run

Jessica Lynn Vela, 39, was struck and killed on the night of May 30. The unknown suspect, in a white SUV, failed to stop and render aid.

SAN ANTONIO — Crime Stoppers of San Antonio are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for a hit-and-run that killed a 39-year-old woman last week.

Police say Jessica Lynn Vela was walking south on Harry Wurzbach Road approaching Timberlane Drive on Thursday night when the suspect driver in an unknown white SUV struck Vela and failed to stop and render aid.

Vela was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect vehicle reportedly sustained front right damage from the crash and vehicle parts at the scene are believed to belong to a Lincoln MKX between the years of 2000 to 2010.

Crime Stoppers may offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with tips is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867.
