TYLER, Texas — A beloved member of the crime show family is making his way back to TV.

After starring on Criminal Minds for 15 seasons, it appears a fan-favorite is coming back to CBS, but on a different show.

According to Deadline, Matthew Gray Gubler, known as Dr. Spencer Reid during his Criminal Minds days, is set to take on the lead role in the CBS comedic crime procedural pilot Einstein (working title). Gubler will play the role of the great-grandson of Albert Einstein — Lew Einstein — a professor at Princeton.

"In it, brilliant but directionless, the great grandson of Albert Einstein (Gubler) spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad-boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases," Deadline reports. " Irreverent and misguided, Lew’s genius and famous name weighs heavily on him, but using his gift to help solve homicides may — finally — offer his life some direction and purpose."

A premiere date has not been released.
