GOING FOR GOLD: Daughter of East Texas coaches competing in javelin at Paris Olympics

This will be Malone-Hardin's third Olympic Games to compete in.

Another athlete with East Texas ties is in Paris to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games!

Maggie Malone-Hardin, who attended high school in Nebraska and is the daughter of Palestine ISD coaches Danny and Nancy Malone, will compete against the world's best in the javelin after hurling her way into first place at the Olympic Trials. Her throw of 64.58m secured her spot in the "City of Lights." 

This will be Malone-Hardin's third Olympic Games to compete in. She also made the team in 2016 (Rio) and 2021 (Tokyo) after excelling at the D-I level at the University of Nebraska and Texas A&M.

The 2024 Games run from Friday, July 26 - Sunday, Aug. 11.

Women's javelin qualifying rounds take place Wednesday, August 7.
