While West Coasters may swear by In-N-Out Burger, we Texans KNOW that there is nothing like a Whataburger with cheese.
And that *ahem* "fact" can now be backed up by data.
In a report released Wednesday by market research company, 1010data, the performance of seven major fast casual burger chains were analyzed for the first quarter of 2017.
And while many people outside of Texas have not been acquainted with the chain, it came as no surprise that the burger oasis still dominated the competition.
Whataburger jumped In-N-Out Burger by 16 percent to make up a whopping 42 percent market share for all restaurants analyzed. That means Whataburger transactions make up nearly half of the orders for all seven restaurants.
Whataburger also comes out on top in terms of trip frequency. The report concluded that 'Whataburger customers make purchases twice as often as customers of other chains.'
In a nutshell, Whataburger customers keep coming back. Again...no surprise there.
The restaurants analyzed in this study included BurgerFi, Five Guys, Habit Burger, In-N-Out, Shake Shack, Smashburger and Whataburger.
According to the data Shake Shack grew the most and Five Guys declined the most. And chains with more menu variety had a higher average order.
