SAN ANTONIO — Police have released the name and mugshot of the man accused of accidentally shooting an 8-year-old boy late Tuesday night.
Police were called out to the 11000 block of Roszell, near Naco Perrin and Nacogdoches around 11:45 p.m. When officers got there, they found the boy had been shot in the abdomen.
The boy was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition, but police later called his condition "stable, but guarded".
Police say the boy was in a room upstairs with the suspect, who is possibly a family member, when the suspect accidentally fired the weapon. Police say the suspect took off.
On Wednesday, police said the suspect was identified as Ronald Mathews Jacobs. He has not been arrested, but when he is found, he will face aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
