SAN ANTONIO — The annual event celebrating Dia de los Muertos will return to Hemisfair in downtown San Antonio this year.
The festival is known as Muertos Fest and will take place Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27. Since its inception a few years ago, the event has grown in a nationally-recognized festival, attracting visitors from across Texas and the United States. The estimated attendance at the 2023 festival was over 135,000.
It was named one of the “7 best fall festivals in the United States” by National Geographic.
The main event focuses on creative large-scale altars created by families, schools and communities, paying homage to loved ones who are no longer with us. The event also includes a full line-up of five stages of live music and DJs, as well as dance performances and poetry readings.
There will also be dozens of food vendors, a curated art market, workshops and activites for families with children.
