SAN ANTONIO — A school choice event Saturday is giving families a chance to get free tickets to the zoo or the Doseum while learning about school options.
The event, School Discovery Day, takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Antonio Zoo. It is part of an ongoing series that allows parents to learn about school choice in San Antonio.
San Antonio has more than 180 schools of choice and the enrollment season for the next school year usually begins in Fall. School Discovery Day allows parents to discover options like neighborhood public schools, charter schools, magnets, online providers and homeschooling resources. Representatives from more than 40 school networks will be on hand to answer questions about their organizations.
The event also includes fun family activities like a dance party, face painting and animal visits. It is free and open to the public, but registration ahead of time is highly encouraged. The first 1,000 families that register for the event will receive free admission to the San Antonio Zoo or the Doseum. The event is hosted by Charter Moms of San Antonio.
