Dog daycare & boarding business shot up overnight, SAPD investigating

The owner of the business, Pup Pup & Away, said she is grateful no one was hurt, including the pets inside at the time.

SAN ANTONIO — A dog daycare and boarding business was shot up overnight on the Northwest side. San Antonio police are now investigating.

This comes just days after two dogs were shot and killed in a northside neighborhood.

The owner of the business, Pup Pup & Away, said she is grateful no one was hurt, including the pets inside at the time.

“Never did I ever think that something like this to happen to us,” Garza said.

The business near Bandera and 410 has been in that location for about four years. Garza said they have never had any issues until Tuesday morning.

She said when her employees showed up to work, they discovered a shattered front door and bullet holes in the window.

“They called me right away, I called the cops, they came down here,” Garza said.

Garza said she checked her surveillance camera located in the lobby. It captured the moment around 2 a.m. when bullets flew through the business.

“We have no idea who did it, if it was targeted, random, no one else on the block was hit,” Garza said.

Garza said a business across the street has surveillance video they are planning on sharing with her that shows a white pick-up truck drive by and fire off about 8 shots.

“Something we thought about, was this connected to any of the events that happened this past weekend, so that’s still to be seen, I guess,” She said.

Investigators are still working on identifying suspects in both the cases from this past weekend and in this shooting.

“I’m concerned also for our clients as well, they’re concerned about their dogs, so safety is always of upmost importance,” Garza said.
